The project’s 235-mile network of rail lines will connect South Florida to Central Florida by operating on the existing Florida East Coast (FEC) corridor and creating new tracks to Orlando. The unprecedented infrastructure project will provide a vital new service for Florida residents, business people, and visitors and will eliminate more than three million car trips from the region’s roadways each year.

SOM, in association with Zyscovich Architects provided design services for the three stations—located in Miami, Fort Lauderdale, and West Palm Beach—key portals within the rail system. Envisioned not only as gateways to their respective cities, but also as iconic destinations, the terminals will be filled with spaces to shop, eat, and meet. The Fort Lauderdale and West Palm Beach terminals are completed. The Miami station is expected to be completed early in 2018. Riders will be able to make the trip between Miami and Fort Lauderdale in 30 minutes. The trip from Miami to West Palm Beach will take one hour.

Phase two of the construction will be completed by 2020 and will link South Florida to Orlando. The trip from Fort Lauderdale to Orlando is expected to take two and a half hours and will terminate at the Orlando International Airport.

As the first tile manufacturer in Tennessee (est. 1986), Crossville is the leading American manufacturer of beautiful, sustainable solutions that advance the frontiers of tile design.

From introducing the nation’s first large-format porcelain tiles, to becoming the first and only net consumer of tile waste materials (meaning Crossville recycles even more than they produce), to developing cutting-edge performance innovations that turn mere surfaces into “breathing” living environments. They are committed to pioneering products and practices that change the way the world views tile.

This versatile porcelain stone collection is comprised of nine contemporary colors. Six shades of gray in warm or cool tones are complemented by both warm and cool white hues and a deep, not-quite-black selection, as well.

The colors stand alone for monochromatic looks or mix and mingle to create sophisticated patterns.

Rectified and designed to be modular, Shades by CrossvilleTM is available in 24 x 24, 12 x 24, and 6 x 24 sizes. Through the “Get Planked” program, custom sizes can be created to increase options, as well. This collection – made in the USA with minimum 4% recycled content – features a subtle linear pattern. Further emphasized in honed tile, this pattern can run in the same direction or alternate to provide greater visual texture.
