Elgin Remodeling Features EPC Wood Look from D&B Tile in Delray Condo Project
Eric Elgin, co-owner of Elgin Remodeling, has been steadily building his business the old-fashioned way. There is no website, digital marketing program or advertising. Eric and his crew are practically permanent fixtures at the Tropic Bay complex just off Federal Highway in Delray Beach.
He and partner Chad Couch head up a highly-experienced team of five who pride themselves on quality workmanship, personal service and using the best materials available for each job. “We’ve been working in Tropic Bay for 14 years and get recommendations from each job. Most are original units and need quite a bit of work to bring them into the 21st century. I am a licensed general contractor. Chad Couch is my partner and we have three others who work with us. We are all experienced craftsmen and qualified to do any and all of the work required.
“In South Florida, there is a virtually unlimited market for remodeling. While the economy is booming, most people are not financially prepared to move into a newer home. But they are willing to invest in their current home. This complex was built in the mid-1970’s and includes more than 400 units. We’ve actually remodeled condos that we already did once. Styles and tastes change and everyone wants to have the latest. We service mostly Palm Beach county but occasionally venture up into St. Lucie County.”
The owner of the condo featured is an interior designer and bought the unit as a winter retreat but visits year-round. After the purchase, she decided on a complete remodel and contacted Elgin Remodeling.
“We prefer working with D&B Tile because they work well with contractors. Each store has a wide selection of vignettes showing different types of tiles and combinations. And, they keep these displays fresh. Every time we go there we see different displays. We work mostly with the West Palm Beach location. Our salesperson is usually Gabriella Harris.
“When we took the customer to their store, she made all her selectionswithin an hour and a half. She wasn’t brand conscious but worked from a color theme. Gabriella helped with the selections and made recommendations for each area. She chose EPC 8×48 Olmo Gris red body wood look throughout for the flooring and Atlas Concorde MOTION Pressed Porcelain 12×24 silver for the guest bathroom wall.
“Artistry in Mosaics Glass Tile Twilight Series was used for the guest bathroom border and Bati Orient Grey Pebble Mosaic 12×12 for the bathroom shower floor. Because this is a condominium, we installed WhisperMat soundproofing by ProtectoWrap to ensure soundproofing throughout the unit.”
Whisper Mat CS is a peel & stick sheet membrane that reduces impact and airborne sound transmissions and isolates “finished” flooring from subfloor cracks.
This project was coordinated by Gabriella Harris, Assistant Branch Manager at D&B Tile’s West Palm Beach location. Gabriella was born and raised in Pembroke Pines. Her family has been involved in the tile industry for years – and owned their own tile store. She began her career with D&B at the Pompano store, then moved to Delray Beach and now is Assistant Branch Manager at the West Palm Beach location.
“I love the fact D&B allows me to be creative when working with customers. Nothing makes me happier than seeing the finished project that I helped create. I can’t wait to see where D&B leads me into the future.”
