American Olean Announces New Line and Efforts for Upcoming Year
The D&B Tile Design Team and management was recently briefed on recent developments at American Olean, which included a new marketing strategy, new logos, refined uses of social media and an expanded new Line of tiles.
The presentation was made by Greg Burch (below on left), Regional Representative for American Olean and Massimo Ballucchi (below on right), Product Design Director for American Olean, Dal-Tile and Mohawk Ceramics.
The company introduced new products to fill in gaps in the line and includes a beautiful wood look which is porcelain tile designed to look like wood. Another is the painted concrete look, which is much warmer in color than previously offered. Finally, they presented a remake of many glass mosaics as well as many new ones.
The first wood look tile is called Historic Bridge. This features the old world look of wood found in old barns and historical buildings. These are 6×36 planks made in the USA. It utilizes a pressed edge design which means it is easier to install than a rectified material. It also has a favorable cost/pricing level. This line comes in a variety of colors, including charcoal which plays very well in the commercial market. A second color is an Iighter grey which is more favorable for residential installations in addition to strong beige or brown color which has many potential applications for commercial, residential and industrial.
A second wood-related tile is called Creekwood. This features an accentuated grain that would fit in a contemporary, modern or even historical residence. It has commercial as well as residential applications. It is a smoother surface compared to the Historic Bridge line and creates a different wood line for the market. It comes in four colors including walnut brown which offers a golden tonality. It is also offered in grey for modern or commercial applications. These tiles are 6X36 and manufactured domestically in American Olean plant in Dallas.
Another series is called Fusion Cotto which features reveal imaging. These tiles come in 12 x24, 18×18 and 2 x 4 1 s. They come in four colors including Anthracite, which is an interpretation of a coastal color with rich brown shades. There are also Iight and dark beige options.
American Olean noted the large number of flat tiles on the market and specifically included more structure in these new lines, which offer a more textured look and feel.
Also introduced was a new line of mosaic tiles, including new shapes such as a hexagon which comes in eight rich colors. Designers will be impressed with these new lines which offer distinct colors and textures. There are other mosaics as small as 1 x1 as well as the Chain Link line. There are also several new lines offering mosaic, glass and marble combined. These are available in a variety of widths.
The company also revealed construction of a new plant in Dixon, TN which will offer the newest technologies from Europe in the production of these exciting new Iines of tiles. This new plant is being built to meet the needs of the industry up to five years in the future. It is currently being built to specifications for a 190 million sq/ft plant and has the capacity for expansion to 300 million sq/ft.
